What is competency based training?

Each VET qualification consists of a series of Units of Competency. These allow learners to demonstrate their ability to complete a range of workplace tasks. Competency-based Training is an excellent lead into employment because at the end of each learning unit, you’ll either be considered ‘competent’ or ‘not yet competent’ to complete that specific task.

How does this work in assessment marking

 To gain your full qualification, you’ll need to be competent in all units. VET qualifications do not have grades, just the types of guaranteed competency that employers are looking for. This creates a more practical, hands-on approach to assessing your skillset for a particular role.
