Victorian Government Slashes Funding for TAFEs

The Victorian State Government has announced $300 million (1) worth of cuts to TAFE colleges in Victoria. An estimated 2000 jobs (2) will be lost in Victorian TAFE sector and a reduction in the number of courses offered is expected. The Government has stated the cuts were necessary to reduce the Victorian TAFE system cost blowout from $800 million to $1.3 billion in two years (3).
